Protect Your Kids’ Summer With These Safety Tips
The warming weather provides more and more opportunities for you and your family to get outside and enjoy each other’s company and fun activities. When you do, you will want to stay safe and keep everyone you are with out of danger. So that you can enjoy your summer without incident, we want to offer this 2015 guide to summer safety.
- Insects: Stay away from using scented soaps, perfumes, and hairsprays on or near your child if you are heading somewhere you know bugs will be an issue. It is also a good idea to avoid bright, flowery prints when dressing yourself and your children. If you are going to be outdoors in the evening when there are more mosquitoes, opt for long sleeves, pants, and socks.
- Playground: When your children are on the playground, make sure that they cannot reach any moving parts that would pinch them or trap a body part. Make sure kids remove helmets or any other items that could get looped around their necks as they play. Before you let a child go down a slide or sit on a swing, test that the metal, plastic, or rubber is not too hot.
- Bicycle: Make sure your children never ride a bicycle without a properly fitting helmet. Ensure that your child’s bike is properly sized for him or her; an oversized bike can be dangerous and it is simply not worth purchasing one your son or daughter will have to grow into.
